Today Moda Living unveiled their £80m development The Lexington to the city.
Situated at Princes Dock, this 35-storey art deco inspired landmark will house:
It’s the design that takes centre stage here, with inspiration being taken from New York’s classic skyline and the likes of the beautiful 30 Rockefeller Plaza building. The Lexington will stand at Princes dock next to the majesty of Liverpool’s world-famous three graces, hopefully changing the face of our waterfront for the better.
This building signifies the start of work on the 30-year £5.5bn Liverpool Waters master plan, which was given the green light in 2012 by central government and local planning officials. The overall scheme is being brought forward by land owners Peel, who own the entire stretch of derelict central and northern docks along our waterfront.
Five entirely new city centre districts will eventually populate the 60-hectare site, with two skyscraper clusters interplaying with centres for work, play, living and culture.
The standard of the Lexington scheme is of paramount importance. It signifies what lies ahead in terms of what we can expect from downtown Liverpool, and will provide confidence that our waterfront is in good hands.
Architects Falconer Chester Hall are responsible for the design work – specifically their Liverpool office. Speaking to Future Liverpool at the launch event of the project, the lead architect gave the very clear message that they know exactly how important this is.
It’s a classic design utilising modern materials. Its fair to say FCH have put everything into making The Lexington hit the mark, and what comes after that will be thrilling to see…
