This wasn’t always the case, as even in the early 1970s it was a thriving area of the city until dereliction set in.

    i am looking for a picture of 40 Great George St , where my uncle Bernard Byrne worked as a hairdresser from about 1925 to 1939

      I’m researching my Great Grandfather, Peter Byrne! When he died in 1917 his brother, A Byrne (I don’t know his full christian name yet) registered the death and listed his address as 35 Great George St.

      Any help would be much appreciated!
